The Animal Science Department from Faculty of Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences, UNESP (Jaboticabal/Sao Paulo/Brazil) offers a Postdoctoral opportunity (for Brazilians and foreigners) with a grant.
Abstract of the research project to be conducted
The of egg production simulation model was developed in a spreadsheet (Excel) with the purpose of estimating nutritional requirements based on genetic potential and determining the consumption of feed and egg production considering the environment, light program and diet; and the partition of nutrient needs into maintenance, growth and egg deposition. Based on this, the aim of this project is: i) update the coefficients to determine the consumption, considering the gastrointestinal bulky capacity, to estimate with more precision the feed intake; ii) to elaborate a tool to evaluate the optimal economic intake of amino acids, considering the cost of the diet and the revenue generated; iii) to implement a feed formulator, providing more autonomy to the model; iv) to follow and give instructions to convert the electronic spreadsheet in web-based software. The proposed updates will provide the development of a software capable to simulating egg production, predicting the nutritional requirements of laying hen and broiler breeder, considering economic factors. The spreadsheet will be a didactic tool with a simple understanding, which will allow and encourage academic and poultry producers, to its use. In this sense, one more product will be available for academic and poultry producers’ community as a result of a thematic project (process Fapesp n0 2013/25761-4).
Candidates should have Ph.D. degree for no more than 7 years in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine, may not have employment relationship, should dedicate exclusively to the research project, have proven experience on research related to protein and amino acid requirements for poultry and have advanced knowledge on writing, reading and speaking English, or have studied abroad in an English speaking country. The postdoctoral grant has duration of eight months. Interested candidates should apply until September 16, 2018. The documents required are: Curriculum vitae (CV Lattes for Brazilians) with list of publications, copy of the Ph.D. thesis (.pdf) and two letters of recommendation. Documents should be attached in an email to the coordinator of the project, Dr. Nilva Kazue Sakomura (email@example.com). Any questions about this opportunity, please contact Nilva Kazue Sakomura (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
