The incumbent will be the Research Leader (RL) of the Endemic Poultry Viral Diseases Research Unit (EPVD) and Avian Disease and Oncology Laboratory (ADOL) of the USDA-ARS-U.S. National Poultry Research Center, Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory in Athens, Georgia. The incumbent provides veterinary medical research and administrative leadership for the research units. As the Research Leader, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the creativity and productivity of the unit. They will have the responsibility for the development and execution of broad and complex clinical field and laboratory research investigations on virus-induced tumors of poultry including enteric viral diseases; metagenomics; Marek’s disease, avian leukosis and reticuloendotheliosis; recombinant DNA vaccines; genome mapping; and basic studies in immunology and immunogenetics.
